As we are a training school, WE ARE DIFFERENT!

Our aims are to provide not just the boring routine of most training classes but to provide you and your dog with so much more.

We run courses rather than people just turning up and joining in whenever. REASON? You all start at the same point and learn at the same pace and there is much less class disruption. You also learn more in a structured way and can go on to the next level if you would like to.

All our training is practical in nature. In your first course with us we teach you essential training such as sit, down, walking on loose lead, recall and so on. Initially we teach you to be able to work with a low level of distraction, but we build the level of distraction to make your work is as life like as possible—its not much good that your dog recalls to you in the hall where there are no other dogs off lead—he needs to be able to do it past people sitting down eating a picnic!

We also include practical care for your dog such as grooming & bathing, as well as the role of diet in your dogs health and behaviour.

Throughout the course we also include dog psychology—how to tell what’s going on when dogs play, when is play becoming too much, why dogs behave in the way that they do—why do they chew, dig holes in the garden, pull on lead and so on…

At Dogs Naturally you won’t find any choke chains, there is no shouting or bullying your dog. We teach our dogs with reward-based methods and smiles! Most of all we want you both to come and enjoy your learning with us! Smiley faces and waggy tails are what we want to see!

We welcome you to bring all your family members which are likely to handle your dog to come to class.  It is important that everyone knows how to handle the dog so that the dog does not get confused - you all need to use the same hand signals and verbal cues.  We also give older children in your family fun stuff to teach - such as high 5, rollover, hide and seek and so on.

Got lots of problems? No Problem. We can help you sort them out. We have practical help in dealing with over excitement with visitors, destructive and howling dogs whilst you are out, and so on.

If you have only 1 dog and want to find other people and dogs to walk with, we hold a dog walking "buddy" scheme.  This list has the names and phone numbers of others who want to walk in groups.  Some classes arrange a group walk once a week.  We also hold group dog walks several times a year.

Affiliations

We are a Kennel Club listed training club which means that we are approved to run Kennel Club (KC) Puppy, Bronze, Silver & Gold tests.  Our puppy class covers all aspects of KC Puppy, and our Bronze, Silver & Gold classes cover the necessary aspects required for those tests.  The Puppy class is assessed over the 8 week period and has no formal test.  The Bronze, Silver & Gold classes have an optional test at the end of them (once the trainer and handler agree that they are ready to take the test).  These optional tests are examined by an outside KC qualified examiner to the KC published test rules. For more information about these tests, and about The Kennel Club in general (including how to apply for your children to join Junior KC) please follow the link on our Links page above.
